Developing Those Different to Us
During interviews we tend to hire individuals that are like ourselves as we feel we have the insight necessary to help them develop. This often happens even when they are not suitable for the job available. However, it is always hardest to relate to and develop those who are the opposite to us.
Poor teachers find it hard not to vehemently dislike certain pupils and in business that same phenomena occurs with those we find it hardest to understand.
At DISCovering, we help managers understand the goals, needs, motivations and fears of those that are different from us. We help managers to relate better to others and especially to understand the keys in creating a motivating environment for them to be successful.
